About the artist

Maureen was born and raised in southern NJ. Her foundation as an artist can be credited to her parents. From childhood through her adult years she spent endless hours in their workshops. Being that they were both skilled artisans left much to her imagination. Having available resources and the use of machinery, tools and materials shaped her path as an artist.

Her education in the arts has been both formal and informal, studying at Camden County College and taking many workshops with nationally known teachers as well. Her path has taken many directions. As an educator she instructed elementary art along with college level programs in the decorative arts. Taking a leap of faith, she began Maureen Bowie Studio in 2000, unceasingly crossing paths in both the decorative and fine art worlds. With a relentless pursuit for creativity, her feisty disposition and zest for life has ushered her across many challenging thresholds. Her business continues to produce decorative finishes, murals, furnishings, architectural artwork and fine art.
